Baltimore Woods is offering special themed camp sessions for experienced campers looking to try something new or delve deeper into natural history and science concepts. Six sessions, beginning July 8th, will cover topics ranging from Pioneer Living to Insect Study. Led by our experienced staff educators, these camps promise to be packed with fun and discovery.
Camps meet daily from 10am-3pm, before and after care are available if needed. See the registration packet for details. Sessions are limited to 11 campers per week, and will be filled on a first come first served basis.

Session 1 – July 8-12, 2013
Wilderness Survival
Ever wonder what you would do if you got lost in the woods? Wonder no longer - this weeklong adventure will cover all the bases: fire building, survival kits, shelter building, and orienteering to name just a few. The first rule of wilderness survival is to stay positive – you can survive. We'll teach you how.
Session 2 – July 15-19, 2013
Insectology
Calling all young entomologists! Come discover the strange, the gross, the beautiful, and the fascinating. Find out who is living under rocks, flying past your face, or sitting camouflaged on a leaf. Take a closer look at the insects that inhabit our world. Learn what it means to be an insect and spend quality time looking these creatures in the face.
Session 3 – July 22 – 26, 2013
Pioneer Times
Experience what life was like for early settlers! Learn how to create your own fun games and cool toys from objects found outside. Don't forget your handmade soap and candles - you won't find any stores in the wilds of the frontier! Participate in the first ever BWNC pioneer field days, filled with games and yummy treats. After this week you're sure to never be bored a day in your life!
Session 4 – July 29- August 2
Herp It Up!
Do you love frogs, turtles, salamanders, and snakes? Then this is the camp for you! Join the fun for a weeklong exploration of the cold-blooded world! Herpetology is the study of reptiles and amphibians. We will travel beyond the well-loved pond and Boulder Brook into the Baltimore Woods backcountry in search or our tiny friends! Who knows, maybe everyday will be a swamp day for us!
Session 5 – August 5 – 9
Waterworlds
Dive deeper into the streams and ponds of Baltimore Woods! Campers will learn all about aquatic ecosystems while participating in a hands-on stream monitoring project. Campers will use real scientific equipment to test the chemical water quality of our waterways. In addition, they will learn how living aquatic organisms can be used as "bio-indicators" of stream health. Campers will get wet!
Session 6 - August 12-16
Nature Spa and Wellness
Mud masks and skin cream! For millennia people have used nature as a source of rejuvenation and wellness. Julia Maum, a certified massage therapist and yoga instructor, will teach this special group of campers how to make natural health and beauty products, lead them in meditation exercises, and help them learn to channel the beauty of nature into their daily lives.
Pricing:
Early Registration – Register by Monday, April 15, 2013 and deduct $10 from the total camp registration fee. Applications must be postmarked by April 15th to receive this discount.
Camp costs $140 per child per week.You must have a Baltimore Woods Family Membership ($40) to attend camp which can be obtained at the time of registration. There is a $5 sibling discount. In addition, if you sign up for more than one week of camp there is a $5 discount for each additional week. See the Camp Registration Forms for full details and policies.
